Preserve Screen Studio’s Cursor in Advanced Editing Workflows

For more customized productions, teams often bring Screen Studio recordings into Premiere Pro or After Effects to add callouts, instructional highlights, and motion graphics. The challenge is that Screen Studio’s cursor treatment is rendered into the exported footage before those edits happen. Graphics added afterward sit above the cursor and can partially or completely obscure it when the viewer needs to see where to look or click.

It would be valuable to make the cursor independent from the screen recording so it can be layered above externally edited footage.

Possible approaches could include:

  • - Exporting the cursor, including its movement, smoothing, and click effects, as a separate video layer with an alpha channel.

  • OR

  • - Allowing users to replace or relink the screen recording with an externally edited version while preserving Screen Studio’s original cursor treatment.

This would allow teams to add custom graphics externally while keeping the cursor visible when needed. It would make Screen Studio more flexible for professional tutorial, product, and education workflows that require deeper customization, while also helping distinguish it from other tools in this space.
